We are excited to introduce our new Tigers After Hours Program beginning Fall 2019! Our goal is to ensure an accepting, enriching, and convenient after-school experience for students and parents. We will strive to understand the needs and abilities of each child, and meet them to the best of our abilities.

+ Let’s Build It!

This STEM class takes a hands-on approach, allowing students to directly engage with basic engineering concepts through a variety of fun and educational activities. Students will improve their problem solving, math, and physics skills while engaging in exciting building projects. Each session (total of 3 per year) will focus on a specific area of engineering (energy, electricity, robotics, bridge building, transportation). The sessions are independent; students do not need to complete one session to participate in the next. (Grades 1st – 5th, Afterschool Enrichment Solutions)

+ Let’s Code It!

This is a new STEAM program that offers an innovative approach to coding to spark interest in computer science. The curriculum stresses critical thinking, creativity, confidence, teamwork, and problem solving skills. Class topics include video game design, loops, control structure, conditional expressions, control statements, object oriented design concepts, data structures and variables, and mathematical expressions. (Grades 2nd – 8th, Afterschool Enrichment Solutions)

+ Ballet Club

Learn about all things dance in this exciting class. Students will be led by instructors from the Nashville School of Ballet, where they will develop a learn a dance routine to perform at the end of their session. No prior dance experience necessary. No uniform or dance shoes required. Students will be given a Nashville School of Ballet t-shirt upon completion of the session. (Grades 1st & 2nd, Nashville School of Ballet)

+ Chess

Develop children’s intellect through the royal game of chess. Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Also, chess has been proven to enhance children’s motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. No previous knowledge of chess is necessary. Each class will consist of a fun interactive teaching period and guided practice. Both beginner and experienced players are welcome and will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholar coach. There will be a chess competition with prizes at the end of the session! (Grades 1st – 8th, Afterschool Enrichment Solutions)

+ Comic Creations

Explore the world of comics! Perfect for children who have a knack for drawing and/or who like to write. We will learn about different styles of cartooning, create new characters, and build a portfolio of your work. (Grades 3rd – 6th, Little Scholars)

+ Craft Masters

Our D-I-Y class for all your artsy-craftsy kids who love to express themselves with one-of-a-kind masterpieces and crafts from around the world. Discover your crafty side and sharpen your creativity as we design many mementos to be treasured. (Grades 2nd – 4th, Little Scholars)

+ Design the Runway

Design your very own fashion line with us! Budding designers will create a fashion portfolio, create a one-of-a-kind piece with recyclable goods, and end the session with a Runway Show to stop Fashion Week! We will participate in several design challenges too! (Grades 4th – 6th, Little Scholars)

+ Science Palooza

Discover, experiment, and create as we learn about colliding worlds of art and science in this STEAM-based class. We will create simple machines, learn about crystals and minerals, and dabble in the world of robots. (Grades 3rd – 6th, Little Scholars)

+ Tastes Around the World

Explore the tastes of the world by visiting Italy to make tiramisu, sailing to Mexico to create salsa, and cruising to France to bake crepes. Our chefs will mix, chop and craft the classes away! (Grades 1st – 3rd and Grades 4th – 6th, Little Scholars)

+ Community and Leadership Workshop

Community and Leadership Workshop is a unique opportunity for students to learn how to develop their business skills while impacting the world around them. Our future leaders will learn about entrepreneurship, public speaking, civic involvement and community outreach opportunities with an engaging curriculum to channel their desire to have a positive impact on the world around them. (Grades 6th – 8th, Little Scholars)

+ Newspaper Club

Students will enjoy this exciting class as they create authentic newspaper stories. They are transformed into reporters and editors as they publish their own school newspaper. (Grades 6th – 8th, Little Scholars)

+ Study Like a Scholar

Offered to provide students with more guidance as they navigate the road to study skills. Teaches strategies that are most compatible with their learning style to get them organized, taking good notes and studying effectively. (Grades 6th – 8th, Little Scholars)

+ Field Trip Fridays

Enjoy a different outing each Friday with Ms. Coode! Travel in the Saint Henry bus and head off to explore various sites and locations around the city. (Grades 5th – 8th)

+ Pottery Making

Get fired up! Students will work under the direction of Ms. Green to create and decorate pottery each week. (Grades 7th & 8th)

+ English/Literature Intensive

Concentrated review focused on assisting our 8th grade students in preparing for their high school entrance exams. (8th Grade Only)

+ Math Intensive

Concentrated review focused on assisting our 8th grade students in preparing for their high school entrance exams. (8th Grade Only)
