Student Artwork Chosen for Middle Tennessee Regional Art Exhibition

This year, two students from Saint Henry School have had art pieces selected for the Middle Tennessee Regional Student Art Exhibition. With a total of 790 student entries, only 96 were selected for exhibition. 

Both artworks have won awards which will be presented to the students on January 10th in The Leu Center for the Visual Arts at Belmont University. We are proud of our artists!

Saint Henry School Places 2nd Overall at Forensics Tournament

This past weekend, SHS students competed in the Middle School Forensics Tournament at Father Ryan High School.

Saint Henry School placed 2nd overall out of 20 schools. Way to go, Tigers!

8th Grade Student will Represent SHS in Mid-State Band

This past weekend, students from schools across Middle Tennessee auditioned for the Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association.

Our own Kate McDonnell ranked #2 out of more than 100 percussionists who auditioned, and will represent Saint Henry School in the 7th-8th Grade Mid-State Band in the spring. Way to go, Kate!

Kudos also to seventh graders Henry Braeuner and Ali Jones for making it past two of the barriers and into the sight-reading room. We are proud of all of you!

MTSBOA: Mid-State is a weekend event held each spring that provides an opportunity for the best musicians of Middle Tennessee to perform with one another in large ensembles. Each Mid-State ensemble will prepare and perform a concert with just a few short rehearsals. To make the Mid-State Band or Orchestra, students must go through the audition process in the fall, which includes three parts: scales, prepared music, and sight reading. The highest scored musicians in each section are selected to be a member of the Mid-State Band or Orchestra, with the top few high school musicians from each section qualifying for All-State.

The Annual Carnival returns to Saint Henry

Saturday, October 27th was a day filled with family, friends, delicious food, and great music at the Saint Henry School playground. Our HSA presidents, along with countless parent volunteers, worked tirelessly to bring back the annual school Carnival, which hadn’t been seen in nearly 20 years. From a haunted house to a teacher dunk tank, all in attendance had a blast enjoying the attractions. We can’t wait to do it again next year!

SHS Alumna Wins Milken Educator Award

Shelly Gaughan, Saint Henry School alumna and kindergarten teacher at Nashville’s East End Preparatory School, was recently presented with the prestigious Milken Educator Award. Congratulations, Shelly! We are so proud!

Today's assembly at East End Prep is welcoming an important visitor: Tennessee Education Commissioner Dr. Candice McQueen has come to dedicate the school's new playground. But wait ... is something else happening? Watch as Lowell Milken, chairman and co-founder of the Milken Family Foundation, delivers the surprise of a lifetime to kindergarten teacher Shelly Gaughan: a Milken Educator Award and $25,000.

Saint Henry School Wins 1st Place at SCA's Math is 4 Girls Competition

We are so proud of our 5th-8th grade girls who competed in Saint Cecilia Academy’s Math is 4 Girls Competition! In the Lightning round, Kate McDonnell won 1st place, Claire Maxwell came in 3rd, and Emma Wanucha placed 3rd in the 6th grade division.

Our Saint Henry School team placed 1st overall out of the 15 schools who competed, which included all diocesan schools. Awesome job, girls!

Cross Country Team Qualifies for State Championship

At the Regional Qualifier this past weekend, our girls cross country team, along with Jackson Greenwalt and Ben Curley, all qualified to compete at the State Championship in Knoxville on October 20th. Grace Feltner led the girls team with an impressive 1st place finish. We are so proud of all our runners. Go Tigers!

SHS Alumnae named National Merit Semifinalists

Saint Henry School alumnae, Kate Connor and Meg Connor, have been named National Merit Semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. They are two of four semifinalists from Father Ryan High School. Proud of our Tigers!

SHS Students Recognized at Duke TIP Ceremony

SHS students James Hinson, Madelyn Vance, Claire Maxwell, and Kate McDonnell were recognized at the Duke Tip 7th Grade Talent Search Ceremony for Tennessee on May 7, 2018 for their outstanding scores on the ACT. Congratulations, Tigers!

Duke TIP: The 7th Grade Talent Search is open to current seventh-grade students who qualify through one of three methods:

1. Scoring at or above the 95th national percentile on an accepted grade-level national standardized achievement or abilities test

2. Scoring at or above the 95th percentile on a state assessment

3. Scoring 125 or above (full scale or composite) on an accepted IQ test

Bishop Spalding Visits Saint Henry School

We’re thrilled to give a big SHS welcome to Bishop Mark Spalding, our new Bishop of the Diocese of Nashville. He visited our school yesterday, celebrating our school mass and meeting students in their classrooms. Welcome to Nashville, Bishop Spalding!

Parents enjoy "Cool Nights & Starry Skies" Bonfire

The weather was perfect for the inaugural Bonfire Party at Saint Henry School last month. Parents enjoyed an evening around the fire as musicians played their guitars, visiting with old friends and making new ones.

“The goal for tonight was to make the night casual and fun; no agenda, just time together in fellowship. There is no better way to catch up with friends than by sitting by a warm fire,” says co-chair Lauren Zook.
