MEET SISTER MARIA SOPHIA - our new 7th and 8th grade Religion Teacher! Sr. Maria Sophia received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, teaching degree from Aquinas College, and master’s degree from the University of Notre Dame.
Originally from Elburn, IL, she comes to Tiger Town after teaching for 2 years in the state of Washington, 4 years in Denver, and a short stint in Birmingham, Alabama. In all her positions, Sister Maria Sophia has taught 6th, 7th, and 8th graders the subject of Religion, and some History and Literature too!
Sister Maria Sophia is learning how to play the guitar, honing her calligraphy skills, and has recently acquired random knowledge and a huge appreciation for chickens! Yes, CHICKENS! This fun little twist is thanks to her past students and visits with their reading buddies, who were hatching chickens in their classroom. Can’t wait to hear more about that!
Another fun fact, Sister Maria Sophia loves pizza and chocolate, which is another sure sign she is going to fit right in at Tiger Town!
WELCOME, SISTER MARIA SOPHIA! ONCE A TIGER, ALWAYS A TIGER!
